Therapeutic Ultrasound Therapeutic ultrasound is a deep heating therapy which provides increase in cellular exchange. It is designed to decrease in the pain pathways also accelerates healing, increases blood flow to effected tissues, and helps with the relaxation of muscle spasms. Used primarily for when there is a muscle component of the injury and or dysfunction.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation (E-Stim) There are several different types of electrical muscle stimulation that we use in our office. The decision weighs upon how acute the injury is, and what it is that we are trying to accomplish. Certain types of E-Stim are for new injuries providing reduction of swelling, relaxation of muscle spasm, increase in local blood flow, and reduction in nerve pain firing. Other types of E-stim that we offer help to restore strength to the muscles.
Iontophoresis (Ionto) Pads that have been injected with medication are connected to an electrical device that drives the medicine directly into the tissue. A significantly smaller dose of medication is needed this way in comparison to injections. This therapy also helps to reduce organ toxicity issues related to oral medications.
